What will a typical day at PWI be like?

-The schedule is intense.  We start at 9 am with worship and then move into a series of breakout classes and general seminars on everything from “Living a Lifestyle of Worship” to “Worship As Warfare” to “Songwriting” to “Recording” to small group clinics for instrumentalists and vocalists.  We provide lunch on site each day and there is a 2 hour dinner break.  In the evening there is a 2 hour Worship Encounter with different worship artists as well as late night activities like songwriting, jam sessions, and movies.  Last year we had 37 instructors and over 50 classes, so it will be fun, exhausting, exciting and overwhelming all at the same time!

What type of classes are being offered?

- Here are some of our classes: The Authentic Worshiper, The Professional Musician, Worship As Warfare, Reading/Writing Charts, The Perfect Mix, Knowing Your Instrument, Songwriting Seminars and Workshops, Growing an Appetite for God, Recording Seminars and Workshops, Singing Secrets, Worship with Your Instrument, Next Gen Worship, Balance in Life and in Worship, Knowing Today’s Gear, Worship Intercession, Mentoring Your Band, Prophetic Worship, Free Worship, Technology in Music, Publishing Essentials, Where Worship is Headed, Leading Under Cover, Management 101, The Music Industry, Instrumental Clinics, Arranging for Your Band and MANY MORE!!

What is a focus track?

- We have developed 4 Focus Tracks at PWI; the Musician Track, the Singer/Worship Leader Track, the Creative Track, and the Technology Track. Students will be asked upon registration to “major” in one area. This will help us serve the needs of everyone without preventing individuals with multiple interests from “crossing over” into other areas.

Is PWI for me?

- PWI is for anyone and everyone who is passionate about music and singing.  You don’t have to be a “worship” musician (congregational) to come to PWI – “performers” and people who feel called to secular/main stream music should come too.  Truthfully, you don’t even have to be a musician to come.  If you love to worship God…come one, come all!

When and where is PWI?

- This year we are hosting only 1 PWI: June 18-22, 2012 at North Central University in Minneapolis, MN. As usual we are still inviting everyone from around the country and from around the globe to attend. In 2009 we had 29 states represented (+ Canada) as well as people from 77 different churches! NCU is the prefect location for an event in the summer; in the heart of downtown Minneapolis (a city of 3.5 million), where the weather is in the 70's and 80's and beautiful during June. There are also lots of tourist attractions as well as the world famous Mall of America (with the Nickelodeon Universe amusement park inside)! Come one. Come all.

What makes PWI different from other conferences/schools?

- PWI is a school where you will be trained up intensely in both practical and spiritual ways in order to equip you to honor and love God with your music and your life.  All or our instructors and leaders and professionals who make their living in music and/or ministry and who desire to be spiritual “fathers” and “mothers” to this generation and the next in order to help them be all that God has created them to be.  We are about Kingdom work, not self promotion.  We realize the responsibility God gives us when he imparts gifts to us, and we want to help you redefine what it means to live and play for God.

Is there an age limit?

- We have not turned anyone down yet, and we’ve had people ranging from 12-48 years old.  PWI is not just for young people or adults – it is for PASSIONATE PEOPLE!  Come one.  Come all.

What if I’m a beginner?

- We have a wide range of talent in our PWI students.  Some are already making a living in music and just want to better themselves, while others just started playing guitar last year.  No matter what level you are, there will be something AWESOME for you.  Of course, if you are just a beginner, you may struggle to keep up in some areas, but the sky is the limit and you will certainly learn more than ever thought you could!

I saw the video…is PWI for "charismatic" people?

- PWI is for EVERYONE.  PWI is not aligned with a particular denomination.  We are not promoting a certain type of church.  However, we won’t deceive you…we are a people who are passionate about loving God with songs and in life.  We want to be like David (a man after God’s own heart) who said he was willing to make himself look like a fool to show his joy in the Lord (2 Sam 6) and who said in Ps 103:1-2, “Bless the Lord O my soul, and all that is within me bless his holy name.”  We also want to offer ourselves as living sacrifices and not be insecure about worshiping God with our bodies, and in doing so be like Paul who said in 1 Corinthians 9:27, “I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should.”  We realize the Bible commands us to worship with our whole self; heart, soul, mind and body, and that clapping, dancing, kneeling, singing and shouting are not Charismatic ways of worship, but Biblical ways of worship that we must learn to do by faith as we grow in Christ despite our feelings or upbringing.

Do you have to be a Christian to come?

- ANYONE can come to PWI, Christian or not, but of course you should know that we are going to unashamedly proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit, all while worshiping, obeying, and trusting the one God of all creation.
